Championing a Diverse and Skilled Horticulture Workforce
The horticulture industry’s workforce and skillset requirement is diverse, ranging from pickers and packers to quality assurance, marketing and sales, engineering, agronomy, research and much more.
Skilled people are in high demand in horticulture, and AUSVEG undertakes a range of activities to attract people to horticulture careers, and help growers manage their staff and create happy, safe, productive workplaces. AUSVEG works with growers and other industry stakeholders, training organisations and government to champion the needs of our industry and our workforce.
AUSVEG has developed a range of career and workforce resources for industry, education professionals and students.
Workplace Relations
In 2023, AUSVEG partnered with Ai Group to deliver a series of webinars covering the most recent workplace relations legislative reforms to the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), implemented by the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022.
Unpacking the Vegetable Industry
The AUSVEG Unpacking the Vegetable Industry video series looks to celebrate and promotes the real nature of the vegetable industry and the experiences of those who work in it, and answers common questions the public has about the industry.

Grow Your Career
For employees looking to join the horticulture workforce, those wishing to upskill or employers looking for workers, the Grow Your Career project highlights the vital roles in the industry.
The AUSVEG Grow Your Career series of videos speaks firsthand with people in the industry with a diverse range of roles, what they love about their job and the pathways to achieving the role.
Education and training resources
Growing the workforce is a big focus for the horticulture industry. As the industry grows, the need for students to take on a horticulture career also increases.
